Summary/Abstract: This paper is aimed at identifying the competence profile for social entrepreneurship in Romania using expert opinions from the field. Considering social entrepreneurship as a result of creating a social enterprise, the authors explore the following theoretical dilemma: if entrepreneurship is defined as competence, could social entrepreneurship be also a competence for the social economy? The paper will first look at views predominant on in the field of social entrepreneurship and present the fundament on which the author’s view is based. Further the paper will present the methodology to surveying the experts in Romania regarding the element of the competence. The exploration of experts in Romania was done using semi-structured interviews and qualitative analysis of the content. The paper will show as main results what the profile of competence is needed for social entrepreneurship in Romania, according to the views of the experts in the field.
