Summary/Abstract: This article examines the regulation of the activity of insurance brokers in Bulgaria. To this end, the regulatory framework in the current Directive (EU) 2016/97 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 January 2016 regulating the distribution of insurance products and the Insurance Code regarding the activity of insurance brokers is analyzed. The nature and functions of insurance brokers have been clarified. The professional requirements for insurance brokers are considered in terms of: education, professional experience and professional qualification; maintenance of compulsory Рrofessional liability“ insurance; financial status and other requirements.
