CHESS PLACE IN THE SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE

Summary/Abstract: Modern society is accompanied by numerous and suddenly changes in all fields of work and creativity, which affects the personal development of the individual and his role in society. In the new school, preference should be given to teaching skills, critical thinking, democracy in work, communication, contemporary knowledge, but also preparing students for specific jobs. One way to innovate working methods is to introduce chess to work with students. In this paper we will present and elaborate on the importance and role of chess in the education and development of studentscompetences in contemporary school, and the possibilities of its application as a method of work, important in the development of students' competences. The main goal of the paper is to analyze and present the views of prominent scholars and educators who have been involved in chess in our region on the educational side of the personality of children and young people. We will look at the views of eminent chess educators as a method of work, analyze them in detail, and outline the importance of educating future educators in order to successfully use chess techniques in the future.
