Summary/Abstract: The article examines a painting technique that is extremely rarely used today by contemporary artists. It is known as "glaze technique". This is actually a painting with thin oil-varnish layers of paint, transparent or semi-roofing in nature, through which new colors are obtained optically. This technique was developed during the Renaissance and was widely used until the mid-19th century. It has its place in modern teaching of the discipline through the use of new pictorial materials and techniques.
