Summary/Abstract: Imprimatura, from Italian - first color layer, is a classic term in painting, which refers to the toning (coloring) of a white primer laid on a canvas or other type of base with a translucent or transparent color layer applied before the actual painting. Students quickly and easily apply this technique after only a few performances. With the help of imprimatura, they more easily achieve three-dimensionality of the image and the desired color synchrony in their works.
