Summary/Abstract: The Dobroudjan Germans arrived in Dobrudja due to the economic and geopolitical transformations of the 19th century. German communities migrated to Dobrudja trying to find better opportunities from an economic and political point of view. They came to localities from where the Turks and Tartars migrated as an effect of the passage of Dobrudja in the possession of Romania. The spirit of order and administrative discipline materialized through the organization and relocation of many of the communities they occupied with houses, wide and perfectly aligned streets, which still exist today. The Dobroudjan Germans fought as soldiers in the Romanian army, a testimony of the Germans participation in the First World War, we find gavates on the monuments from various Dobroudjan localities. Thousands of simple, honest, hardworking and disciplined peasants, who by their presence for a century on Dobrudja land, have shown that a dry and arid land can become through work and understanding, a rural area of civilization and abundance. The Dobroudjan Germans were the only ethnic group on the territory of Romania that did not settle on these lands coming directly from Germany, but from another area colonized by the Tsarist Empire, namely from Bessarabia and Southern Russia. The Dobroudjan Germans represented the only population of German origin that lived under direct Ottoman rule (until 1878 Dobrudja was an integral component of this state) as well as under direct tsarist rule.
