Summary/Abstract: In our permanent professional improvement, as 21st century musicians, it is almost impossible not to have heard of Ableton, Sibelius, Cubase, Logic, Studio One, etc., computer music programs that some of us do master actually very well. In this context, it becomes vital - even if we are just simple users, legitimate or illegitimate - to be aware of the extent and the features of the legal protection offered to these programs in the Romanian legal system (implicitly in the EC legal system), the rights of their authors in the field of intellectual property rights, but above all, of the risks we expose ourselves to, when ignoring or using them illegitimately. We try to synthesize the rights stemming from their legitimate use, as well as the annotated indication of the legal texts that send us to “The protection and legal status of computer programs - including the musical ones - in the Romanian law system.”
