Summary/Abstract: The article deals with issue of function of three rings found in sepulchers of polish bishops: archbishop Henryk Kietlicz, Apeczko of Ząbkowice, bishop of Lubusz and unidentified archbishop of Gniezno. Each of those rings had gemstones (sapphires, amethysts) with hole drilled through it. Rings of such kind, were often regarded as reliquaries. Although grave findings and historical records tell us, that it was quite popular to put relics in sepulchers, we rarely find reliquary rings. What is more, specimens of this kind have often under gemstone small place to store a relic. That makes some doubt if those rings are really reliquaries. There is a presumption, that the gems, were earlier part of late-antique necklaces, and brought to Poland from territories of former Roman Empire.
