Summary/Abstract: The information transmitted by the historical sources available, allow to identify some of the types and categories of Byzantine warships, that participated in the naval campaigns on the Danube. Among them two main categories can be distinguished: battleships and transport vessels. The vessels of the two categories used by the imperial fleet in the campaigns on the Danube were: dromon, chelandion, hippagogos / hippagogous, galley and moneria. In addition to the types of military vessels presented, the Byzantine sources also record the use of other types of vessels, by the imperial forces during some of the naval campaigns on the Danube. Among them, the historical sources record the ferries and floats (σχεδίας), thieves, boats, etc., mentioned with the generic names of ἀγγεῖα, πορθμὸςμικροῦ, πορθμεὺς, πορθμείων. The vessels mentioned in the sources under this name are undoubtedly domestic vessels
