Summary/Abstract: The article examines Miron Białoszewski’s emotional relationship with the region of Podkarpacie expressed in the poet’s early works from the 1950s. Some of the early poems were published in the 1956 volume entitled Obroty rzeczy (published in English as The Revolution of Things by Charioteer Press in 1974) while some other appeared in a book edition only in 2017 in Utwory zebrane (Collected Works) by Państwowy Instytut Wydawniczy. These poems include not only “Ballady rzeszowskie poźniejsze,” but also “Wizerunek jagodny Tarnowca,” “Dukla Janowa” and „Rozalie,” a dramatic poem (puppet theatre), to which the article devotes special attention to analyse recurring motifs (e.g. wheel, journey) and key words, e.g. wood (with its derivatives). The rural strain in Białoszewski’s poems depicting interiors of village churches with their wooden sculptures of saints leads the present author to propose parallels between the studied poems and the poetry of Jerzy Harasymowicz from the volume Madonny polskie (Polish Madonnas). The study of the less-well-known poems of the author of “Ballada krośnieńska”, associated primarily with language poetry, allows to understand better his fascination with the region of Krosno and the area. The important geographic topos of Podkarpacie is constructed by numerous references to places and spaces in and around Krosno, Odrzykoń, Dukla, Haczow, Biecz, Binarowa, Tarnowiec, Wrocanka, Żarnowiec, Nowy Żmigrod, Stary Żmigrod, Rogi, Toki and Wołkowyja.
