Summary/Abstract: The pastoral care of vocations in Soviet Lithuania is still consistent for its absence in historiography. While Catholic women played a fundamental role for its development, it is necessary to consider that KGB persecutions heavily influenced the very context in which the pastoral care of vocations emerged. Both lay and consecrated people had a task to strengthen faith in a context characterized by widespread atheistic propaganda. Over the analyzed period, the main outcome of the pastoral care of vocations was the creation of “home churches” where women represented the main actors. Throughout the period in which the “Chronical of the Catholic Church” in Lithuania was published, lay and consecrated women remained the central figures of the pastoral care of vocations, since persecutions and Soviet laws limited the activity of regular priests to official church services.
