Summary/Abstract: Travelling in the sense of passage, whether physically – of a subject through a certain space or – philosophically as a process of self-awareness, has been dealt with in many works on Bulgarian unconventional and contemporary art from the late 1980s until now. This study seeks to explore this trend in the context of Bulgarian art, demonstrating, by using examples, that travelling is embedded in them as a conscious spatial factor. It is often based on the idea of transforming the space where the work is realised until sometimes this space becomes a work of art itself. It is a fully realised action that is part of the whole creative process. The research aims to contribute to the formulation of a certain trend in Bulgarian contemporary art that will give a new and different look to the already fragmented and chaotic art scene of this period.
