Analysis of Sacred Music Works − Proposal of Method

Summary/Abstract: Musical analysis is not only intended to describe or name musical phenomena in the composition, but its aim is to find connections in the examination of the structure of the analyzed work as well as the historical development of musical speech. In addition, the analysis of sacred musical works should have a spiritual orientation that takes into account what is most important in the sacred work, namely its symbolic statement, which is carried out using a specific musical language. The article presents a methodical approach which is called spiritual, musical- -symbolic. The author demonstrates the results of this approach with examples of works from different periods of European music.
