Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a list of villages whose inhabitants bred sheep and goats in the territory of the kazâ of Užice, in the Smederevo Sanjak, in the late 16th century. The defter compiled in 1596 shows that small livestock breeding was predominant in the livestock economy of this area. In addition to offering concrete data on the number of small livestock by village, the defter also allows us to create a broader picture about the borders of the kazâ of Užice in the given period.
