Summary/Abstract: Th e history of mathematics in Romania gives some information about the engineer Nicolae Vasilescu-Karpen’s presence among mathematicians. On one hand, the paper reproduces data about this presence and on the other hand it expresses several thoughts about the synergy which is brought by multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity for the progress of the science and of the humanity material life.
