Norms and Practices in Recruiting Students for County Party Schools (1947-1953)

Summary/Abstract: The party education system played a major role in the formation of central and local communist elites in all countries of the Soviet Bloc. A fundamental task in this activity of training and improvement of party cadres was the recruitment of students,which had to be done according to some rules established by the party. In this article we want to present a comparative study on the criteria and practices of student recruitment for the county party schools in communist Romania during the period when these political education institutions functioned at county levels (1947-1953).
