Summary/Abstract: The article examines the question of the liturgical language of the Roman rite celebrated according to the Missal last revised by pope John XXIII in 1962. First, it discusses the legal norms that allow the celebration of the Holy Mass according to older liturgical books. At the same time, it emphasizes the fulfilment of the requirement of plurality of rites, which was demanded by the Second Vatican Council. In the second part, the article deals with the liturgical norms contained in the Code of Canon Law of 1983 and their applicability to the Missal of 1962. The key issue here is the application of canon 928 to the liturgical language of the older use of the Roman rite.
