Summary/Abstract: The volume puts together the contributions of some participants to a section of the biennale conference of European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA), the 2008 edition. The editors challenge the authors to reflections regarding the possibility of a pre-textual level in the anthropological knowledge, where the body, not the mind, has the role of a cognitive agent. The way to be followed is the same with the momentarily suspension of every rational exercise, thus putting the cognitive subject in full phenomenology. In this sense, Maurice Merleau-Ponty is especially followed. The texts of the volume highlight as many hypostases of this type of knowledge. But the process is to be recognized in the anthropological research since its very beginnings; however, research reports had to be written as if the mind is the only agent of a true knowledge.
