Summary/Abstract: The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has brought about the economic disorder which has never been the case before which resulted in taking unprecedented measures by the governments. The sudden occurring of supply and demand shocks made the threat of a permanent recession real. Therefore, governments have taken a number of anti-crisis efforts aimed at protecting jobs and reducing the economic impact of the pandemic resulting from the need to introduce a temporary lockdown. This article is an attempt to indicatethe most important postulates that should be implemented in order to minimize the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Polish economy. For this purpose, the analysis of anti-crisis measures carried out in Great Britain, Germany, France and Austria was used. The changes in the economic situation in these countries were thoroughly analyzed, as well as the methods of fighting the crisis used by the governments of these countries. Thesummary of this analysis are the proposed anti-crisis solutions for Poland. They are presented in the last chapter. This article is part of the existing research gap regarding ways concerning dealing with the economic effects of the COVID-19 in European countries. The publication was prepared based on data for the spring phase of the pandemic in 2020.
