Summary/Abstract: Cases from the hatred discourse in Hungary. The article is based on a research done by the author with the support of the Fund for Open Society in Budapest. The author mentions the importance of the freedom of specch after 1989, that permitted public debate over social tensions that existed always in Central and Eastern Europe and the appearance of the risk of free space for passions and suppressed prejudice that wrere previously not expressed. The author defines notions as “hatred discourse”, “freedom of speech” and analyses cases from Hungary.
