Summary/Abstract: Peter was the first Apostle to enter Jesus’ tomb. According to Luke’s Gospel (24,12) Peter noticed strips of linen cloth (keimena othonia) lying there. Based on John (20,5), who arrived at the tomb with Peter, Peter noticed strips of linen cloth (othonia) and a folded face wiping cloth (sudarion ho én epi tés kefalés autou) in another place. In KJV New Testament Greek lexicon ‘strips of linen cloth for swaddling of deads’. So it was used to swaddle dead bodies. The sudarion was mainly used to wipe the sweat of Greek sportsmen. There is no evidence in the Gospel about a big shroud to wrap the entire body as the shroud of Turin. The remains Peter saw lead us to the conclusion that Jesus was buried in the same way as Lazarus from Bethany.
