Summary/Abstract: Jankiew Pat’s reportage presented here concerns the activity of the Central Historical Jewish Commission, which documented the Holocaust of Polish Jews, then headed by Filipa Friedman. The author, a pre-war activist of the Central Jewish Education Organization and of the Bund, was a talented journalist who frequently went on business trips. In 1938, he landed in the United States in order to solicit financial aid for Yiddish schools in Poland. As he did not manage to leave the US before the war broke out, he became involved with the Jewish Labor Committee. He was active on the Committee after the war as well. As a Committee’s representative, he came to Poland in 1946 in order to collect information about the condition of Polish Jewry and to offer financial help to survivors and the institutions that represented them.
