Summary/Abstract: Mordechaj Żurawski’s testimony in the Yad Vashem archives concerning his imprisonment in the death camp in Chełmno nad Nerem , given in 1947 i Yiddish, is an important source that reveals how the death center functioned, and shows the experiences of one the few prisoners who survived. We also learn about the author’s earlier experiences in labor camps and in the Łódź ghetto. Żurawski, who usually used the names Mordechaj Maks, was a butcher. He resumed his career as soon as the war was ended. In the 1950s he emigrated to Israel. After the war he testified a number of times about the criminal activities of the Germans in Chełmno.
