Summary/Abstract: I intend to present in may paper the teaching/learning process, the development and evaluation of the optional/elective course of British Culture and Civilization, a course that I have been teaching for two years at three faculties –Law, History, Geography – of „Babeş – Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca. I will focus on some teaching as well as psychological and pedagogical aspects such as: evaluation of the students´ needs and interests, their motivation to participate to this course, the purpose and objectives of the course, the making of the curriculum and evaluation of the final results according to the abilities tested. By using documentaries and other fiction films – all inspired from the history, culture and civilization of Great Britain, the students were exposed to complex and persuasive learning situations with a great formative and informative impact on them, which influenced positively their general and specialty communication skills in English. It was also a confirmation of the fact that the audio-visual aids play a very important role in processing the information and new ideas, in stimulating the reasoning process of the students.
