Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on changes in social policy in Slovakia after joining the European Union. Specifically analyzed are changes in the objectives and specific policies (instruments) in the field of social protection (pension policy, policy for people with low incomes, family policy) and the labor market policy. Author demonstrates that the first period after EU accession, the Slovak social policy was confronted mainly with the European model and later those policy profiles under the influence of crisis.
