Summary/Abstract: The paper represents an homage to acad. prof. Stefan Bălan with the occasion of 100 years commemoration from his birth. His life is chronological presented on domains of activity using an extensive documenter material as well as vivid memo ries kept in mind of contemporary people and rendered in a way to mix the authenticity of official documents with the emotional testimony power of those who knew him closely. Along the paper are presented accurate biographical data, but also professional activity with its achievements and evolutions. All these are emphasized by many photographs. There are presented also a large number of publications from all stages of activity. This paper comes like a homage, for his contribution to the professional accomplishments of some thousands civil engineers, more than 30 doctorate degrees and for his example of sobriety, modesty and elegance in his relations with all who knew him like professor and scientist.
