Summary/Abstract: Entrepreneurship is one of the most important factors required for the economic developmentof a country. Under macro scale conditions the creation of new subjects is similar for the wholecountry, while under local conditions significant differences occur. This influences the density ofentrepreneurship and its pace of change. The specificity of suburban areas is an important elementin studies about modern urbanization processes. The transformations of space in the vicinity of largecities contribute to undertaking general urbanization studies. The purpose of the study was to identifythe local determinants which have the greatest impact on changes in the intensity of entrepreneurship. The considerations were focused mainly on variables describing the location of individual poviatsin relation to urban centers, the latter constituting regional centers of economic development. Thepresented work focuses on the issues concerning the location of individual districts in relation to urbancenters, road networks with the status of international routes and airports. The method of interactiveC&RT classification trees was used in the modelling process. The analysis showed that the largestnumber of business units were registered in voivodeship cities constituting regional developmentcenters, both in absolute and relative terms. Faster growths in entrepreneurship was mainly due topopulation density, the number of places to sleep per 1,000 inhabitants and the distance from a largecity, all features that identify the market’s absorbency.
