Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of a study of the functionality of a modern family inthe Republic of Moldova. The data of a socio-psychological research conducted on asample of 157 married couples with various marital experience in the age range from18 to 61 and older are analyzed. In the course of the research presented in the article,it was found that the modern Moldovan family is experiencing a crisis of functionalityand this is refl ected in the number of divorces. There are problems with defi ning roleparticipation, hierarchy and leadership in the family system.
