Summary/Abstract: The present paper brings into focus several communication constructs relevant for the process of social interactions based on the sociopsychological tradition.Interpersonal communication is a process of symbolic interaction that produces and depends on the larger social order. Basically, it looks at human interaction from the standpoint of the individual. Initial phases of interpersonal interaction are analyzed. Communication transactions occurring at different stages are researched with emphasis on uncertainty and predictability about the behaviour of the other(s). Thus, sociological impacts and psychological impacts on behaviour are treated in a complementary approach. Frequency of contact also appeared to be a relevant construct within the framework of forming interpersonal relationships. Exploring communication theories, the paper discusses the impact of communications media on social and multilinked relations.
