Summary/Abstract: The intercultural dimension of education is a priority theme for the European institutions, in particular the Council of Europe, being included in the reflection and practice in the field of European Citizenship and Education for Human Rights. In this regard, the Council of Europe has adopted a series of documents and measures directly related to intercultural education or aiming at promoting cultural diversity and cultural dialogue. Developing education in the spirit of interculturality is an instrument in combating segregation and discrimination against migrants and minorities. In this perspective, multiculturalism is potentially rich, provided it is transformed into interculturalism, meaning that there is interrelation between cultures without erasing the identity of each person and the specificity of each culture.
