Summary/Abstract: The theme of this paper is a reflection of cultural and natural reality elements of translated books illustrations of literature for children and youth illustrated by Slovak illustrators between the 60th-80th years of the 20th century. It maps the visual characters of illustrative expression which seems to be new, strange and enriching for the young reader. Respectively the ones which becomes inspiring for the next creative work of the illustrator. The importance of metatexis of illustrations appears to be important for the visual retrieve and the induction of authenticity of foreign texts, what has descriptive-cognitive as well as aesthetic and arthistic dimensions.
