Summary/Abstract: According to Punset, “happiness is absence of fear” (Arenas 2011). The latter is the result of uncertainty regarding what may happen. The current paper is based, on the one hand, on the perceptions from which bloody past events are related by the narrators of both novels, its aim being to seek solutions to still existing fear, so as to reach reconciliation and harmony. On the other hand, it deals with the way fear results from crisis and the disintegration of family as a consequence of the present era, known as harmful to sentimental relationships, which produces insecurity among people.
