Summary/Abstract: Oral poetry has been collected and archived in the Museum's collection of the Folklore Archive since the first records made by Kosta Hörmann, and then, according to Hörmann's order, also by Czech ethnomusicologist and visual artist Ludvík Kuba, in the last decade of the 19th century. Nevertheless, complete collections collected in private arrangements by domestic collectors and then donated or purchased for the National Museum's Folklore Archive represent one of the most important sources for the study of domestic folkloristic from its fundamental point of view. However, in order to gain an insight into the true condition of traditional heritage and to see life in continuity, as well as current forms of folk life, the most important contribution was made by research directly on terrain, carried out by experts of the National Museum. This paper will try to present the contents of the mentioned collections, new contributions from the terrain, and to point out their importance for the development of the science of our oral creativity.
