Summary/Abstract: Born in Botoşani Co. – Moldova, after primary school in natal city moved to the United Institutes College from Iassy (1878–1885). With an excellent education in Iassy, Antipa was remarked and highly appreciated by his adviser Ernst Haeckel at Jena University. After defending his Ph.D. thesis visited sev eral Hydrobiological Research Stations in Italy and France, and returned to Romania with a clear project to apply his experience in Danube and Black Sea hydrobiological studies. Firstly he organized zoological collections and State Fisheries – as director of both institutions. Antipa founded a new National Museum of Natural History, Oceanographic Research Station in Constanţa (today – National Institute of Marine Research and Development), Fish Research Institute in Tulcea (today – National Institute of Research and Development for Danube Delta), Fishery Research Station in Nucet – Dâmboviţa Co. In 1935 he also gave lectures on broadcast and published a project for a ZOO in Bucharest. Most important of his scientific works referred to the flooding area of Danube river, Fish fauna of fresh and marine waters, Valorification of Danube marshes and improved life conditions of Danube Delta waters with a result of important increasing fish productivity. His strategies were applied in abroad institutions of hydrobiology and fishery. Grigore Antipa invented diorama in public exhibitions – a technique all over the world’s museums adopted today. He consistently contributed to the national and global civilization progress.
