Summary/Abstract: Süleyman Demirel was one of the main politican who put his hallmark on Turkish political life. He remained in almost forty years as an important actor in politics and determined the direction of both domestic and foreign policies with his decisions. At the beginning of his longitude political life it has appeared serious problems within the framework of Turkish-American bilateral relations in the 1960s. Demirel could not get support from the Western allies and USA for tackling the Cyprus issue. So in order to overcome this dilemma he tried to develop good bilateral relations with the Soviet Union. Consequently Demirel visited the Soviet Union in September 1967 as the first Prime Minister of Turkey. This study aims to analyse the reflections of Demirel’s visit to the Soviet Russia in the Turkish national press. In this context, it will be given a short introduction to the Turkish foreign policy, before the newspaper articles in the national press about this state visit will be taken into consideration which will be evaluated through the content analysis.
