Summary/Abstract: It is widely believed that is impossible to define word-formation both synchronically and diachronically and in this respect it is different from other parts of the language (coresponding to other language divisions) and that it can only be defined diachronically. After studing these questions, the author came to the conclusion that the stages in the formation of a word lend them selves to synchronic as well as diachronic analysis no less than other parts of the language and thus, the diachronic / synchronic method of analysis hat is used for all other parts and standards of language can be equally well applied to the study of word-formation.
