Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the topoi that mark sacred and profane in sanctuaries. Attention is focused on water sources, the door and the threshold in an architecturally internalized space. Written sources and architecturally absorbed space are analyzed. Attention is also paid to the transformation of water, threshold and door into metaphors on the boundary between sacred and profane space.
