Summary/Abstract: Çukurova folk culture is a reflection of the region’s folk values, and this culture is the outcome of centuries. Çukurova’s local people reflect all of the events, example values, moral understanding, traditions and customs, daily life, and all of its cultural life in folk culture items. These products have been increased in time and Çukurova folk culture has appeared. When Anatolian geography is considered, Çukurova is the last region that has passed to settled life style from nomadic lifestyle. This situation led to this region’s late meeting with new local people. In this vein, folk products have been in the minds of the folk so far. The most important ceremonies in human life, such as birth, marriage and death, have their own applications and traditions, which are parts of local, regional and national culture. That’s why; these passing levels should not be ignored in cultural studies. Water has a crucial importance in all world cultures in addition to its vital importance. Water has been regarded as sacred since Old Turkish cultures, and we can see it in many ways of Turkish cultural life. In passing ceremonies of Çukurova region, birth, marriage and death concepts have used the concept of water in many ways. In the present study, water based applications will be emphasized and their relations with old Turkish culture will be examined.
