Summary/Abstract: The first issue of „Cuvântul” (The Word) appeared on January 31, 1990, containing the first Orthodox review entitled The intellectuals and the Church. For four years, 1990-1994, as far as it appeared as a weekly magazine „Cuvântul” was edited and written by a handful of intelligent and cultivated people, in 1991 and 1992 being found on all the stalls and newsstands in downtown Bucharest. Then its slow decline began, followed by ceasing appearance. A lot of people were coming and going through the editorial staff, starting with Alexandru Paleologu, Alexandru George, Adrian Marino, all three permanent contributors of the publication, politicians, journalists, intellectuals, but also figurants or simulants on the public scene as well as colorful characters ...
