Summary/Abstract: The dynamic changes occurring in the environment of enterprises, as well as their multidirectionality and emerging socio-economic crises have focused the attention of decision-makers on seeking new business opportunities that would increase tolerance, uncertainty and resistance to unexpected events. In the context of the above, research has been taken up, the primary purpose of which has been an attempt to answer the following question: Which micro-foundations should be taken into consideration when establishing the business model of Polish manufacturing enterprises operating in the agricultural machinery sector? Referring to the goal outlined in this way, the following were recommended as actions necessary to be taken:− on the theoretical level – using the method of reconstruction and interpretation of the subject literature – selecting questions formulating the orientation direction of the surveyed enterprises; microfoundaments of the shaped business model determining their maturity;− on the project level – compiling a research tool in the form of an assessment sheet being a resultant of the literature study, and of a discussion among deliberately selected experts (inventory methods). The presented study involves such criteria as: conditions in which manufacturers will have to operate on the agricultural machinery market, and the shape and structure of the sector as well as anticipated consumer behaviour. On the one hand, perspectives and tendencies in the development of management science and practice have been adopted as a reference point for explaining possible scenarios, and on the other; the emerging challenges that the future entails.
