Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the phenomenon of fear in A. Bierce’s («An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge», «A Tough Tussle») war stories. The fear works as a catalyst that stimulates characters to act. Spiritual and moral strength of characters in all his works have been analyzed.
