Summary/Abstract: The article introduces PHP (Peace and Happiness through Prosperity) as an interesting idea and as a realized project - PHP Institute, and its author - Konosuke Matsushita, described as a “top industrialist”, “the biggest money-maker”, “philosopher”, “magazine publisher” and “best-selling author” at one and the same time. PHP (Peace and Happiness through Prosperity) is one of his most interesting ideas and one of the greatest projects of his life. It expresses the ultimate ideal to bring peace and fulfillment to human society by assuring both spiritual and material abundance Matsushita believes that the mission of a manufacturer is to relieve poverty and create wealth, not only for shareholders, but also for the society; that happiness and business should not be opposed; that business and work exist to make everyone on earth happy; that hard work guarantees happiness; that business finally sells happiness; and that economic prosperity will lead to peace and happiness in the future. He, himself has made a very successful business, following the concept that his profit had come from selling happiness to the consumers. His successful business has made life much easier and maybe a little bit happier for thousands households and employers throughout Japan and worldwide. This enlighten humanitarian idea is in the basement of the establishment of PHP Institute-a concerted effort to build a new world of peace, happiness, and prosperity; an institute to “improve the human mind” and to be a “private think tank”, which could concentrate the wisdom of the world for better tomorrow.
