Summary/Abstract: The paper is devoted to tickers concerning the strikes of transport employees in France. The analysis of the choice of words which were used to describe various aspects of the events in four TV channels proves that after familiarising oneself with a short announcement of a particular piece of reporter’s material, the same facts could be interpreted in different ways, depending on the author. This function of tickers is additionally strengthened by the use of stylistic devices, especially metaphors. Investigating the corpora has also revealed that one of the channels has consciously created a coherent message and selected particular keyewords.
