The cooperation of official statistics and the scientific community

Summary/Abstract: The role of official statistics in public life is constantly growing, and with it the demand for high quality data. Official statistics follows this challenge by changing possibilities of sharing and collecting data, adjusting range of information to any user, in particular the special needs of professionals. The article presents the cooperation of science and statistics in the creation of modern public information system, based on the experiences of statistical offices. The current information offer of public statistics and expectations of customers, including the scientists and researchers, for example using the Local Data Bank, have been subjected to confrontation.
