An attempt to identify major regional clusters and their convergence

Summary/Abstract: The objective of the article is to identify and assess the significance of spatial re-lations for the estimation of convergence models at the European Union NUTS-2 level re-gions. It was attempted to indicate the correct definition of the distance matrix and next the occurrence of diffusion effect. The analysis was performed based on data covering the peri-od 2000-2011. Statistical (I Moran statistics and joint-count) and spatial econometrics (spa-tial leg and spatial error models) tools were applied in the course of the conducted analysis.
