Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the specific “role” of river valleys in physico-geographical regionalization. Examples of difficulties related to the inclusion of river valleys into high-ranking regional units are presented. The regularities of gradual “disappearance” of carthographic information about river valleys on maps, during the transition to higher levels of regionalization, were presented.
