Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to acts of terrorism of Islamic formations derived from the North Cauca-sus. Their activity is a continuation of longer historical process in which tribes and North Caucasus nations used different forms of political violence and more than once they referred to the Islamic ideology. Within a period of two Chechenian wars which outbreak took place after disintegration of Soviet Union, the Islamic stream was still present and went from strenght form strenght on the side of fighters. After the end of the second Chechenian war local separatist movement has been transformed to the section of world jihad and the separatists started partisan activities, and they or-ganized series of terrorist attacks.The article discussed the organizational structure of North Caucasian terrorists and the circum-stances of creating the Caucasian Emirate. To the analysis were subjected such aspects of their ac-tivity as recruitment of new members and raising the financial means. There was also discussed the fighting tactics and the most characteristic terrorist attacks
