Summary/Abstract: The article is an illustration of the growth of the financial sector in the Polish economy and selected developed countries. Using a set of statistical indicators the author identified less known consequences of this growth. One of them is a significant reduction in the rate of the national income growth in developed countries, while another one is the extension of the national income creation over a one-year cash flow of goods, as finances to a large extent determined growth in the next years. The third consequence of the finance share increase in the economy is the duality of consumption. In developed countries, financial investors with its above-standard and luxury consumption outweigh the standard.
