Summary/Abstract: In 2014 the president of France, François Hollande promised to deepen cooperation in the field of renewable energy with Germany. Currently, the energy sector of these countries has changed significantly. Introduced by the government of Angela Merkel’s energy reform envisages increasing the potential of renewable energy sources to 80% until 2050, where the French power in the 75% is still based on atomic energy. However in the plan is to reduce the share of nuclear energy about 25% until 2025. Despite the differences, France and Germany are one of the strongest “energy alliances” between Member States and significantly affect the energy policy of the European Union as a whole.
