Summary/Abstract: The author has undertaken an attempt to analyse the impact of social communication means on disseminating culture of life in modern world. The article consists of two parts. In the first the meaning of “culture of life” as well as its impact on a human and society was discussed. In the second the influence of media on respect for life and dignity of a human was analysed in a wider understanding. In both parts the teaching position of the Church’s Magisterium is mainly shown based on selected documents i.e. John Paul’s II Encyclical Evangelium vitae as well as Catechism of the Catholic Church. The article draws particular attention to the need to promote the basic value of human life from conception to natural death. An important issue is also the danger arising from uncritical and even thoughtless acceptance of all information served by media as real. This often threatens both human freedom and the civilization of love. Yet, means of communication can and even should promote respect for all values, provided that the human dignity is shown.
